She earned degrees in political science and English from Keele University in Staffordshire, England. Early in her career, she worked for BBC Blast, a youth-geared radio station.
In 2013, she started a blog hosted by the Hello magazine website.
She and her seven siblings grew up in Lancashire, England, as the children of Nigerian parents. Her birth name was Onatejiro Odudu; she later became known by the nickname of "AJ."
