Japanese Entrepreneur who co-founded the Sony Corporation and its predecessor, the Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation.
His early company, Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation, developed the first Japanese tape recorder in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
He published a 1986 autobiography entitled Made in Japan and also wrote a controversial non-fiction work entitled That Japan Can Say No. The latter publication criticized United States Business culture and policy.
He and his three siblings were raised in Japan's Aichi Prefecture and were born into a family involved in the Japanese miso and soy sauce industries.
