Rose to fame in 2007 as the youngest winner of the reality singing competition Anugerah. That same year he went on to release his debut self-titled album which sold more than 300,000 copies around Southeast Asia. He also later began an acting career and appeared in the drama Antara Kita.
He was attending Zhenghua Secondary School when he became the winner of Anugerah at the age of sixteen.
In 2009, he was compelled to enlist in the National Service. Through it he became an instructor with the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
He was born as the oldest of three siblings and is of both Malay and Arab descent. His two siblings are twin sisters. He has gained attention for his relationship with Malay musical sensation Didi Astillah's sister Bella.
Both he and Sandra Riley Tang are popular Singers from Singapore.
