InterTech was founded in 1982 by Zucker's late husband, Jerry, who died of a brain tumor in 2008 at age 58. InterTech, which had 2015 revenues of $4.2 billion, also owns an aerospace engineering firm and extensive commercial real estate. Jerry Zucker, an immigrant from Israel, was a prolific inventor who was granted numerous patents. She owns the South Carolina Stingrays, a minor league hockey team.

A philanthropist, she serves on the board of the Coastal Community Foundation and Trident United Way, and isa trustee of the Saul Alexander Foundation and the Jewish Endowment Fund. She has served on the boards of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, the MUSC Foundation, and Porter-Gaud School. A member of the Republican Party, she endorsed Mitt Romney in January 2012.
