Best known early in his career for his role as Danny Tanner on Full House, he is also known as the original host of America's Funniest Home Videos. He provided the voice of the Future Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother. In 2016, he reprised his role as Danny Tanner in the Netflix follow-up series to Full House, Fuller House.
While studying film at Temple University, he created a black and white film entitled Through Adam's Eyes, which received an award of merit at the Student Academy Awards.
He played Matt Steward in 17 episodes of Raising Dad from 2001 until 2002.
He married Sherri Kramer in 1982. He and Sherri had three children together before divorcing in 1997. In November 2017, he got engaged to blogger Kelly Rizzo.
He co-starred with John Stamos on ABC's Full House from 1987 to 1995.
