Comedian, writer, and actor who rose to fame working on Conan O'Brien's late night talk shows. He worked on all 3 shows hosted by O'Brien, including Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, and Conan on TBS. After leaving Conan in 2015, he began working on the writing staff for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS.
He began his comedy career as a performer with The Second City improv comedy troupe in Chicago. He first started writing and acting in sketches on Late Night in 1997, while the first sketch he wrote for the show was the introduction of "Andy's Little Sister, Stacy" featuring Andy Richter and Amy Poehler.
He is the winner of 5 Writer's Guild Awards for Writing in a Comedy/Variety Series as a member of the writing staff on Late Night. He also won the 2007 Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program.
In 1996, he married actress and fellow Second City alumni Miriam Tolan. They have 2 children.
