American actor most famous for having portrayed Coy Duke, one of the new Duke Boys, in the 1982-1983 season of The Dukes of Hazzard for the first 19 episodes of Season 5.

When he auditioned for the role of Bo Duke back in 1979, John Schneider was actually thought to be too young and was put on the "no-see" list. Schneider later crashed the auditions, six-pack in hand, and introduced himself as Bo Duke.

He and Christopher Meyer, who played Vance Duke, were known as the "replacement Dukes," for having taken the place of their onscreen Dukes of Hazzard cousins, Bo Duke (Schneider) and Luke Duke (Tom Wopat). Schneider and Wopat had sat out Season 5 because of a contract dispute.

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He had three sons (one of whom died in a car accident), and always considered Meyer, his Dukes costar, as his brother.

After his stint on Dukes of Hazzard, he appeared in other TV shows, such as Murder, She Wrote, starring Angela Lansbury, In the Heat of the Night, with Carroll O'Connor, and Vietnam War Story, as well as various TV commercials and guest spots on numerous talk shows. He also served as a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society.
