Famous for her portrayal of Steph Scully on the Australian soap opera Neighbours, she is also notable for her appearance on the reality series Celebrity Big Brother Australia.
Before joining the cast of Neighbours in 1999 as a replacement for Actress Emma Roche, Bonner appeared in several TV commercials and had a guest spot on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation series Raw FM.
She appeared in a 2013 episode of the Australian drama series Wentworth.
She welcomed sons named Harley and Jhye in 1991 and 1998, respectively. In the early 2000s, she was romantically involved with Australian film and television actor Sullivan Stapleton.
She became the real-life best friend of Kym Valentine, the Actress who played her on-screen Neighbours best friend, Libby Kennedy.
