Chatri Sophonpanich & family was born in Bangkok, Thailand, Thailand. Chatri Sophonpanich is chairman of Bangkok Bank, the nation's biggest lender, with assets of $85 billion. His father Chin Sophonpanich founded the bank 72 years ago. The bank has lately got into a tangle over problems linked to digital TV operators. It was sued by Fox Networks after reportedly failing to honour an unconditional guarantee it had signed for pay-TV operator CTH, owned by fellow lister Wichai Thongtang, which shut down last September and owes Fox licensing fees. The bank did not respond to requests for a comment.
