Before becoming the host of the Indian talk show Koffee with DD, this popular television personality pursued an acting career, appearing in the soap opera Selvi and its spin-off series, Arasi.
When she was just fourteen years old, she began hosting a Vijay TV program called Ungal Theerpu.
She worked as a voice-over (dubbing) Artist for such films as Goa and Saroja.
A native of India's Tamil Nadu state, she was born to a family of both Malayali and Tamil heritage. Her sister, Priyadarshini, also worked as an Actress and television host.
She played a small role in a 2003, Kamal Haasan-directed comedy movie titled Nala Damayanthi.
