Writer and actor who created an entirely new form of satirical literature when he founded the National Lampoon magazine in 1970. He also co-wrote and produced the classic comedy films Animal House and Caddyshack.
He and his fellow Harvard student created a magazine with dark, sophomoric and vulgar humor, which proved a hit with the campus.
After selling his magazine for $7 million, he went on to produce Nation Lampoon's Animal House, where he appeared briefly as the frat brother 'Stork.'
He grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was briefly married to Alexandra Appleton Garcia-Mata from 1970 until 1973.
His brand of satire went on to influence Future popular comedians like Jon Stewart.
