Edwards is the voice behind the phrases "You've got mail", "Welcome", "File done", "You've got pictures", and "You've got voice mail" and started recording for AOL in 1989. Edwards started out in radio after high school and then got into television and worked as a live booth announcer. He did a car commercial, news, and sports and was also a weatherman. He sold personalized .wav files through his website. Edwards has worked as a news graphics supervisor, general manager, operations manager, production manager, senior director, and announcer. He has had voice roles in the movies Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, You've Got Mail, and The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle. He also did voice work for an episode of the TV series The Simpsons in 2000.
