New Zealand rower who won gold medals in the double skulls at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. She and her sister were named Rowing Female Crew of the Year by the International Rowing Federation in 2005.
She was born in Hastings and first gained international attention by winning silver at the 2001 Rowing World Championships.
She set the world record in the indoor 2,000 meters with a time of 6 minutes and 28.5 seconds in 2002.
Her identical twin sister Caroline Meyer is also an Olympic rower. She married fellow rower Sam Earl.
She and fellow American rower Lindsay Shoop both won gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
