Famous for his work in the South Korean television shows Dating Agency: Cyrano and Vampire Idol, Hong is also notable for his participation in the popular reality show We Got Married.
Early in his career, he appeared on the 2009 MBC series Heading to the Ground and in the 2008 film Lovers.
He showed off his fashion modeling skills in an episode of the Mnet program SNSD Factory Girl and went on to appear in advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein and New Balance.
He studied film and theatre at Konkuk University in his native South Korea.
He and Kim Woo-bin were both in the main cast of the MBN series Vampire Idol.
