Polish-Lithuanian noble who occupied many positions in the state administration of Lithuania. He was considered by many to be the de facto ruler of the entire Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
He was educated abroad in Germany and the Netherlands.
His most notable positions were the Court Chamberlain of Lithuania and Field Hetman of Lithuania.
He married Maria Lupu in 1645.
He and Valdas Adamkus both served the government of Lithuania.
