Famous for his dangerous and much-criticized expeditions to Arctic areas of Russia and Norway and to the South Pole, Andhoy was the subject of Norwegian television programs titled Berserk to the North Pole and Berserk to Valhalla.
When he was just nineteen years old, he set sail in a twenty-seven-foot-long yacht to the Antarctic Peninsula and documented his travels in a book titled Alone Around Cape Horn.
He was put on trial and forced to pay hefty fines for voyaging without insurance and violating the terms of the Antarctic Treaty.
He was born and raised in Norway.
He planned a 2012 voyage with the son of famous Norwegian Explorer Thor Heyerdahl.
