About
Singer-songwriter and music producer massively celebrated for becoming the highest-grossing living French pop-rock artist in 2017. His extensive career, which spanned over several decades, included his notably successful stint as a solo artist throughout the 1980s and '90s as well as his time performing with the pop-rock trio Fredericks Goldman Jones. He has written numerous albums and tracks for ballad singer Celine Dion, including her 1995 studio album D'eux, which is the highest-grossing French-language album of all time.
He started studying music as a child, initially learning to play the violin and the piano. He began to drift away from his classical music training in favor of a more folk and rock & roll sound in the late 1960s when he also learned to play the guitar. After graduating from the École des Hautes études Commerciales du Nord with a degree in business, he commenced his musical career with the progressive rock group Taï Phong.
After co-writing several tracks on Céline Dion's 1997 album Falling into You, he earned a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. From 1986 to 2016, he directed the Les Enfoirés charity ensemble an annual concert to benefit the Restaurants du Coeur association, which donates food packages and prepares meals for those in need.
He is the son of father Alter Mojze Goldman and mother Ruth Ambrunn. From 1975 to 1997, he was married to psychologist Catherine Morlet, with whom he has 3 children, Caroline, Michaël, and Nina. In 2001, he re-married mathematician Nathalie Thu Hong-Lagíer, and they welcomed 3 children of their own - Maya, Kimi, and Rose. He has 3 siblings, including his younger brother Robert, who is also a songwriter.
He has collaborated with an extensive list of highly revered musical artists throughout his career, including Patricia Kaas, Garou, Marc Lavoine, and Patrick Fiori, among many others.
