Having joined Fox Sports at the end of the 2000 Winston Cup season, he and partner Chris Myers have been hosting the weekly pre-race shows from the famed "Hollywood Hotel," generally located near Victory Lane at each race track. It is the place where his longtime colleague Waltrip once said: "There's Hollywood Hammond inside the Hollywood Hotel," and the nickname stuck since. Actually, Darrell Waltrip, Mike Joy and Larry McReynolds are the booth announcers, with whom Jeff contributes to the race coverage on Fox and FX. Jeff can be also seen on Friday nights at 7pm eastern on Trackside Live on the SPEED Channel, commenting all the happenings on and off the track along with show host Steve Byrnes. While earlier, he had also broadcasted wrestling events for TNA Wrestling on Fox Sports Net, where he hosted an interview segment known as the "Six Points of Impact!" As for Jeff's NASCAR career, it started in 1974, and at the time he was working as a tire changer for Walter Ballard. Shortly, Jeff became one of the best jackmen in the business and served on all three of driver Cale Yarborough's Winston Cup championship seasons. It was in 1981, when renowned driver Darrell Waltrip took over for Yarborough and the Junior Johnson-owned team won yet another championship. Under Waltrip's sway, Johnson promoted Jeff to the crew chief position right before the start of the 1982 season and the Junior Johnson-owned team won yet another championship. Two more championships along with 43 wins followed and thus placed Hammond in the record books as one of NASCAR's all time great crew chiefs. Married with three children, Jeff Hammond now resides in Charlotte, NC where he also indulges his passion for horses, rodeos, team roping, and hunting.
