The oldest child of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, she was born in Portugal and raised primarily in Scotland. The first book in her mother's famous series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was published when she was four years old.
Her parents separated just five months after her birth, and she moved with her mother to Edinburgh, Scotland. When her Portuguese broadcast Journalist father, Jorge Arantes, arrived in the United Kingdom, her mother filed a restraining order against him and began divorce proceedings.
She was named after the famous English author Jessica Mitford.
Her mother's second marriage, to Neil Murray, resulted in two siblings for Jessica: David Gordon Rowling Murray and Mackenzie Jean Rowling Murray.
Her mother's popular Harry Potter books were adapted into a series of equally successful films starring Daniel Radcliffe.
