Became one of the most influential songwriters in the history of popular music after co-founding The Beatles with Paul McCartney and George Harrison. His mother bought him his first guitar when he was sixteen, and he used it to play with The Quarrymen, a skiffle/rock group that would eventually evolve into The Beatles.
He released an album in 1980 with Yoko Ono entitled Double Fantasy. The album won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
He married Cynthia Lennon on August 23, 1962 and, after their divorce on November 8, 1968, he married Yoko Ono on March 20, 1969.
