Julia Stoschek was born on June 10, 1975 in Germany. Art collector Julia Stoschek is the daughter of Michael Stoschek, who heads up the family's autoparts company, Brose. She owns an estimated 20% of the company. Her father is the grandson of Max Brose, founder of the namesake German auto-parts maker. Michael Stoschek took over the company in 1971 at age 23. Under his leadership, Brose evolved from being a national manufacturer into a world market leader in electrical and mechanical components and integrated systems that are largely invisible to vehicle drivers. Brose calls itself the world's fifth-largest family-owned automotive supplier. Approximately 24,000 employees work for the company at 60 locations in 23 countries. Annual revenues top $6.4 billion. Julia Stoschek was born in 1975, the daughter of Michael Stoschek, a German Billionaire businessman, chairman of Brose Fahrzeugteile, the German car parts company founded by her great grandfather Max Brose.

2003

Stoschek first began buying art in 2003. Her collection features works by mainly European and US artists working from the 1960s onwards and includes video, multi-media environments, internet-based installations and performance. The Julia Stoschek Collection in a former industrial building in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel opened in 2007, and has two floors of exhibition space, over 2,500 square metres (27,000 square feet). Since the opening, she has mounted regular collection-based shows, including solo exhibitions on Cyprien Gaillard and Bruce Nauman.

2016

Stoschek also is the vice chair of the Kunst-Werke Institute for Contemporary Art after being a member of the board for several years. In 2016, she opened a satellite exhibition space in a former Czech cultural center in Berlin.
