He initially moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to begin his career as a makeup Artist in 1982. He moved to New York City the following year after being assaulted for his sexual orientation.
He had three books called The Art of Makeup, Making Faces, and Face Forward published. All three became best-sellers, with the latter two debuting on Times' best-sellers list.
He married his partner Jeremy Antunes in an unofficial ceremony in 2000. He passed away due to liver failure on May 7, 2002.
He worked alongside Liza Minnelli for various promotional tours.
