2014 Coleman defeated incumbent Jim Bird in the Republican convention and won the November 4, 2014 General election against Democratic nominee Nicholas DeLand with 4,804 votes (69.5%).
In 2016, Coleman also floor sponsored SB0143S01 Competency-based Learning Amendments.
