Japanese-American stock car racing driver who was named 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Rookie of the Year. He was also the 2013 Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and 2014 Cup Series Rookie of the Year.
He raced open-wheel cars, including United States Auto Club (USAC) midgets, Silver Crown and sprint cars as a teenager.
He won the 2013 North Carolina Education Lottery 200.
He was born to parents Janet and Mike in Sacramento, California. He had a son named Owen with longterm girlfriend Katelyn Sweet.
He made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at the 2012 UNOH 225, which was won by James Buescher.
