Laura Bacon is an actress best known for playing the 'Mum' in the Cbeebies show 'Melody' - Series 1 (2013) 'Melody' - Series 2 (2015) and 'Melody and Friends' (2016). She was born in Hertfordshire and worked as a teacher before training as an actress at Mountview Academy, London.After working in a variety of theatre and film roles, Laura now divides her time between acting, writing and filmmaking. In 2016 she set up 'Imagine If Films' and co-directed and starred in 'Hesperides' as 'Sue' with debut film director Jack Judd. Hesperides is a dark film noir short focusing on the life of a hoarder obsessed with birds and taxidermy, who intends to 'fly' out of his twenty storey flat.She has also written a number of plays including 'And They All Lived' a non-linear twisted tale spanning three different timelines, interweaving the lives of the Brothers Grimm and their folklore characters. This was followed by 'Domino', a thriller set on a train and then 'The Day the Clowns Cried', a historical piece focusing on forbidden love and the death of the 1940's American circus.Laura has also just finished a dystopian sci-fi screenplay entitled 'Mind Drive', set 200 years in the future and a seven episode television series 'A Human Condition', focusing on the seven deadly sins.Laura also performs as a singer/songwriter, under the name 'Shen'. New original music and tracks are set for release later this year.
