She moved to New York in 2002 to pursue her photography studies at Hunter College. Soon after enrolling, she met her Misshapes partners Geordon Nicol and Greg Krelenstein.

She was born and raised in Toms River, New Jersey. In September 2016, she got engaged to Randy D'Amico; they welcomed a son named Lukas Lezark in December of 2016.
