He also won the Chinese Super League in 2004, and was an important component in China's journey to the 2005 AFC Champions League semi-finals. After the manager of the Shenzhen club moved on to the China National Football team, Li Yi left Shenzhen and went to play for Shaanxi Chanba. He remained with Shaanxi through 2010.
