Formerly known as Lizzie Armitstead, she is an English track and road racing cyclist who won five medals at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
She graduated from the British Cycling's Olympic Podium Programme.
She won the silver medal in the road race at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Her parents raised her in the market town of Otley in West Yorkshire. She married Philip Deignan in 2016.
She and Gary Fisher both competed as professional cyclists.
