Poet, Writer, attorney, and political figure who fought, in the early years of the twentieth century, for Puerto Rican independence. In 1913, he co-founded a literary journal entitled La Revista de Las Antillas.
He published his first poetry collection, Al Pie de la Alhambra, while he was a young man living in Spain.
He studied at both the University of Barcelona and the University of Granada.
He was the Puerto Rican-born son of coffee plantation owners Marcelina Soledad de Torres and Luis Aurelio del Carmen Llorens.
He, like Olga Nolla, was a Puerto Rican poet.
