Marcel Erni was born on March 23, 1926 in Zug, Switzerland, Switzerland. Marcel Erni is co-founder of Partners Group, a Swiss private equity firm with $30 billion in assets under management. He started Partners Group in 1996 after stints at Goldman Sachs and McKinsey & Co. Partners Group's co-founders Alfred Gantner and Urs Wietlisbach are also billionaires and also worked at Goldman Sachs. Erni currently owns 10% of the publicly traded company. Erni earned his MBA from the University of Chicago-Booth School of Business and a PhD in finance and banking from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland. In 2016, Partners Group provided 50 percent equity for Texas based processing facility Raven.
