Womack was born in Liverpool in 1961, eldest son of Frances (née Dean) and Tom Womack. He has a younger brother Paul (born 1963) and a younger sister Louise (born 1966).
He began a relationship with Actress Samantha Janus in the late 1990s; they married on 16 May 2009 at Claridge's hotel in central London. He has a son Michael Womack (born 1995) by his ex-wife Therese and two children by Samantha, both born in Westminster, London: son Benjamin Thomas Womack (born February 2001) and daughter Lily-Rose Womack (born April 2005).
