Centre who was selected with the fifteenth overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders. He had previously won gold representing Canada at the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
He began playing organized hockey at age 4. Prior to his NHL debut, he was selected first overall by the Seattle Thunderbirds in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.
In October 2017, he set an Islanders record for assists by a rookie in a single game when he recorded 5 assists against the Colorado Avalanche.
He has a sister named Liana.
He has been teammates with defenceman Sebastian Aho on the Islanders.
