Jones joined En Vogue in 1989 after an audition in Oakland, CA. She was known for her "Motown" voice, singing the lower notes of the group, who would win three MTV Video Music Awards for the song "Free Your Mind."

She left the group for a period between 2000 and 2003, returning for another 6 year run, until contract negotiations for their 2011 single, "I'll Cry Later," broke the group apart. She started her own version of En Vogue, but was taken to court by the former members for use of the name.
