Known best for her work with Los Angeles' NBC affiliated KNBC-TV station, this acclaimed broadcast Journalist received five Emmy Awards and nineteen Emmy nominations. Also an Entrepreneur, she founded the SaberHacer.com Latino web community and became known under her personal brand "Michele Ruiz, My Life as a Latina Entrepreneur."
In 1988, she graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a degree in communications and subsequently began her broadcasting career with Channel One News. During the 1990s, she worked for Los Angeles' KTLA station.
For more than a decade, she sat on the board of the Para Los Niños non-profit organization.
A native of Los Angeles, California, she grew up in a Spanish-speaking family of Panamanian heritage.
She had a cameo role in the 1993 Sean Connery feature Rising Sun.
