NFL linebacker who was a second round draft pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2012. He stepped into a starting role as a rookie, replacing an injured Aaron Curry, and started all 16 games in his first year in the league.
He played his college football at San Diego State, where he was a two-time All-Mountain West Conference player as well as the San Diego State Student-Athlete of the Year in 2010.
Although he was second on the team in tackles in 2014, he was released after the Raiders picked up several linebackers in the 2015 offseason. He did not play in the NFL the following year.
He grew up a Raiders fan in northern California, as evidenced by an Instagram post thanking the team for helping him fulfill a childhood dream after he was cut.
His first career interception came against Cam Newton, who was, at the time, riding a streak of 176 passes without throwing a pick.
