Better known as Fujiko Fujio, a pen name he shared with his longtime artistic collaborator
He and Fujimoto published their first manga, Tenshi no Tama Chan, during their high school years. During his rise to artistic prominence, Abiko supported himself by working for the Toyama Newspaper Company.
He and Fujimoto founded a television anime production company called Studio Zero.
A native of Japan's Toyama Prefecture, he met and began collaborating with Fujimoto in elementary school. Abiko met his Future wife when he was in his early thirties.
During their early years, he and Fujimoto were mentored by the famous Japanese manga Artist Osamu Tezuka.
