Most well known as the mother of Actress Jennifer Aniston, she also pursued an acting career, appearing in episodes of The Wild Wild West and The Beverly Hillbillies.
She and her five sisters grew up in New York City in a family of Italian, Greek, Irish, and Scottish heritage.
She published a 1999 memoir titled From Mother and Daughter to Friends.
Her first marriage, to musician Jack Melick, resulted in a son named John. She and her second husband, actor John Aniston, welcomed their daughter, Jennifer Aniston, in 1969.
Following a nearly decade-long estrangement, she and her daughter reconciled after actor Brad Pitt left Aniston and became involved with Angelina Jolie.
