Entrepreneur who has been called the father of the Indian IT sector as the co-founder of the corporation Infosys. He is the recipient of many of India's most prestigious civilian awards, including the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri.
He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Engineering in 1967.
He is known for his philanthropy, having won the Philanthropist of the Year award at The Asian Awards in 2013.
He married author and social worker Sudha Murthy, with whom he has children named Akshata and Rohan.
He and fellow Indian Entrepreneur JRD Tata are both winners of the Padma Vibhushan.
