Weightlifter who won a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 56 kg division. He also took gold at the 2013 World Championships and Asian Championships in the same class.
He was a very talented teenage Weight Lifter, before making his Olympic debut as a 20 year old.
He became just the fifth man to lift three times his body weight.
He was born in North Hamgyong, North Korea.
He was part of a weightlifting display at the 2012 Olympics that included Kendrick Farris.
