Mother of child beauty queen and murder victim, JonBenét Ramsey. After the murder she and her husband were put under suspicion and struggled an onslaught of defamation suits for turning suspicion onto others.
She received a degree in journalism from West Virginia University in 1978. The previous year, she had been crowned Miss West Virginia.
She died of ovarian cancer at age forty-nine, still under suspicion for the December, 1996 murder of her daughter. Two years after her death, however, she and her husband were both cleared by the Boulder, Colorado District Attorney's Office (based on advanced methods of DNA testing) of any involvement in the murder of JonBenet Ramsey.
She married John Ramsey in 1980. The couple's son, Burke, was born in January of 1987, and their daughter, JonBenét, was born three and a half years later.
She was portrayed by Actress Marg Helgenberger in Perfect Murder, Perfect Town, a 2000 television miniseries.
