A Swiss organic Chemist who studied vitamins and won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1937. He helped identify lactoflavin as part of the complex originally thought to be vitamin B2.
He obtained a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Zurich in 1911.
Through his work he confirmed the chemical structure of vitamin C.
He had three sons with his wife Helena Froelich after marrying in 1914.
He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry twenty-five years after Madame Curie did.
