Forward who became the first NBDL player to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft in 2014 when the Miami Heat drafted him 26th overall. His rights were directly traded from the Heat to the Charlotte Hornets.
He played basketball at Dudley High School in North Carolina, once scoring 53 points in a single game.
He was a 2011 McDonalds All-American and he went on to play college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels from 2011 to 2013. After college, he spent a season with the NBDL's Texas Legends.
He was born to Wendy Mailey and Samuel Peterson Hairston.
He played under head coach Roy Williams at UNC from 2011 to 2013.
