Indian-born British citizen Raghuvinder Kataria, who chairs Dubai's Kataria Holdings, was an early investor in Indian telecom. He sold a minority stake in Sunil Mittal's Bharti Airtel at the stock's peak, cashing in an estimated $500 million. During the 2009 Dubai downturn, he bought 2 buildings in Emaar Square in the central business district for $205 million, a deal that is said to have turned the tide for Dubai's real estate market. He also has stakes in Danish technology firm Vopium, a Skype rival, India's Dhanalaxmi Bank and brokerage firm Destimoney Securities. Kataria is a regular donor to the Al Jalila Foundation, a non-profit founded by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
