He won his debut fight against Luiz Augusto Alvareda and followed that by winning three straight fights to secure a World Combat Championship 1 Tournament victory.
He has fought in the Ultimate Fighting Champion, Pride Fighting Championships, K-1, RINGS, and International Fight League.
He comes from a large family including a family filled with other fighters such as Ralph and Ryan Gracie.
He trained numerous well known fighters including George St-Pierre.
