His first band was called Gayhand, and they played popular Western music like The Beatles. He went on to play Indonesian pop as well.
His album, Begadang, was ranked #11 on Rolling Stone Indonesia's 150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time list.
He married Actress Angel Lelga in 2003, but it is rumored that they divorced the same day as their marriage.
He has stated that his music is influenced by the guitar stylings of Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple.
