It all began as she sat on the stairs near the edge of the stage at the Los Angeles Theater Center watching her older sister play the role of Dorothy in "The Wiz". She was intrigued with the singing, dancing and acting of the young performers and knew that she had to become an entertainer.So, she joined the Amazing Grace Conservatory where she honed her skills in the arts performing in an array of musicals including "Little Shop of Horrors", "Grease", "Oliver", "Dream Girls" and ten years after sitting on those stairs she was casted as Dorothy in, you guessed it, "The Wiz"! At home, it was talent shows in the living room, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and Dorothy Dandridge on the TV in the family room, and late nights watching anything Meryl Streep appeared in. Then there was Sarah Vaughn, Fred Hammond, India Arie, John Legend, Beyonce and Adele blaring from her bedroom. But that explains why she is so engrossed in character development and why her music consists of soul-searching ballads, modern day R&B and pop smashes. She can't be defined or confined. In a word, she's a student of the arts!Rhyon is far from average. She was a great student, a working actor, and a fun loving, outgoing, well-rounded kid. But, it was her sound education and her passion for the arts that secured her a position in the world's number one film school, the USC School of Cinematic Arts where she majored in Film and Production. There she refined her skills behind the camera and was selected to write and direct the music video for a song she penned for the Columbia Records recording artist RaVaughn. As her passion for music grew she spent many of her college nights in dorm rooms writing, recording demos and doing covers. Her love for music had been unleashed! She got into the studio and began working with the right producers and four years later, with her degree in hand, she returned to the front of the camera and began merging acting and music. In one of her most challenging roles to date, she portrayed Michel'le in the Lifetime biopic "Surviving Compton" while completing an album and a self-penned short film to introduce her music project "Pretty Girl " to the world. But, she is far from done. She recently joined a star-studded cast in BET's new hip-hop anthology series "Tales".Rhyon's goal is to take us back to a time when being an entertainer meant you sang, you acted, you danced, and you did it all well!
