After graduating, he began his professional career working for Merrill Lynch in the mergers and acquisitions department. He remained with Merrill Lynch until the mid-80s, and then left the firm to begin working for Alliance Capitol Management as an investor. In the early 90s, he took his investment experience and opened his own firm, Chilton Investment Company. He has served as CEO and chairman since the company's founding. The company currently manages over $7 billion in assets, and has offices in the New York, London, Hong Kong, Chengdu, and Beijing. The company also has agreements to work in India. Mr. Chilton is currently based in Darien, Connecticut, where he lives with his wife and four children.
