Famous for his contributions to the science world, Dawkins is particularly known for his writings in the field of evolutionary biology. His best-known works include The Selfish Gene (1976), The Blind Watchmaker (1986), and The God Delusion (2006).
He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford, with an advanced degree in zoology. He went on to teach at the University of California, Berkeley.
He founded the non-profit organization, Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science, in 2006. He is a well-known advocate of atheism and a harsh critic of creationism.
He was born in Kenya and raised primarily in England. He was married three times - to Marian Stamp, Eve Barham, and Lalla Ward. He has one daughter named Juliet.
