Partner in the Philadelphia-based firm, Mitchell/Giurgola Architects, that designed the Wright Brothers National Memorial Visitor Center. Received the AIA Gold Medal in 1982.
He served in the Italian military during World War II and then attended the Sapienza University of Rome. His Master's degree in architecture was obtained from Columbia University.
He designed the Australian Parliament House and eventually moved to Australia after 30 years in New York.
His first wife, Adelaide, died of Alzheimer's disease.
He sought to carry on the innovative legacy of such legendary Architects as Frank Lloyd Wright.
