Weightlifter who served as the head coach of the Iranian team that won two gold medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. He previously won silver as a Weight Lifter in his own right in the 105 kilogram category at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
He grew up in Ardebil, Iran and studied at Mohaghegh Ardabili University.
He stepped down as coach of the Iranian weightlifting team after the Iran Weightlifting Federation lifted its ban on Kianoush Rostami.
He was born in Ardabil, Iran.
He and Iranian countryman Behdad Salimi both medaled at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
